Statewide FoodShare Outreach Announcement

We are excited to announce that pending FNS approval Feeding Wisconsin, the state association of food banks that represents Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin and our five sister food banks that serve our state, will be working to expand local FoodShare outreach in eight additional counties and expanding telephone based FoodShare outreach assistance throughout the state.

First, Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin will be transitioning the management and administration of the FoodShare Helpline (1-877-366-3635) to Feeding Wisconsin. This will free the Helpline from only being actively promoted in the 16 counties that we serve. Feeding Wisconsin will add new staff which will expand the Helpline's capacity to more effectively serve people living throughout the state with information and application assistance.

We are working closely with Feeding Wisconsin for a seamless transition with no interruptions to the high-quality service the Helpline currently provides. The only change you will notice will be a refreshed Get a Quest Card website and new marketing materials throughout the state.

Second, we will be working in partnership with Feeding Wisconsin and with our sister food banks Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin and Feed My People Food Bank to bring local, in-person outreach assistance to eight new counties in each of their service areas later this Fall.

In the Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin territory, Brown, Outagamie, Winnebago, and Fond du Lac counties will be getting a dedicated FoodShare Outreach Specialist to help families living in the Fox Valley. Similarly, in Feed My People Food Bank’s territory, a local FoodShare Specialist will be working with local community organizations and agencies to help the residents in Eau Claire, Chippewa, Dunn and Clark counties in western Wisconsin. Our service area will continue our in-person outreach assistance at the level that we have been providing over the last six years.

We are extremely excited to be working with our sister food banks and state association to bring our award winning FoodShare Outreach program to the entire state. If you are interested in learning more about the state FoodShare Outreach program or Feeding Wisconsin please visit their website at www.FeedingWI.org or contact David Lee, executive director, at dlee@feedingwi.org.
